The School of Basic Studies

Every academic programme has a philosophy behind it.

Benson Idahosa University’s school of Basic Studies (SBS) was established to cater for a pool of candidates seeking admission into various academic disciplines of Nigerian Tertiary Institutions.

The students who are unable to qualify for the University matriculation examinations (UME) 100 level entry mode can qualify to enroll in our 2-year diploma programmes.

Successful candidates of these programmes will enroll into the degree programme of choice at the 200 level, by purchasing, completing and submitting the Direct Entry form.

Our SHS is designed to nurture and teach the students as they acquire the necessary skills for the job market or for further university training. The programme we offer encourages students to enroll in school rather than wait at home and await the passing of their UME.

In five years after enrolling in the BIU SHS, the students graduate from the university and they are mobilized for the NYSC. You are invited to share in the BIU experience; BIU offers prospective students a rare opportunity to participate in a unique learning experience within the frame work of academic excellence with Godliness.
