Professor Gideon OMUTA
VICE CHANCELLOR BENSON IDAHOSA UNIVERSITY Professor Gideon Omuta attended the University of Ibadan where he was awarded the Honors Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) degree in Geography in 1971. He pursued his post-graduate education in the United States of America, where he obtained the Master of Science (M. Sc.) degree in Geography, with distinction, in 1974 and the Master of Science (M. Sc.) degree in Urban and Regional Planning, in 1975, both from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Finally, he obtained the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) in Urban and Regional Planning from the Florida State University, Tallahassee, in 1977.
He took up an appointment in 1978 as Lecturer II and became a full professor in 1987 in which he taught a wide spectrum of courses in mainstream Geography as well as Urban and Regional Planning, at undergraduate and post graduate levels, supervising over seventy (70) M. Sc candidates both in Geography as well as Urban and Regional Planning and being the lead supervisor of five (5) and second supervisor of two (2) others, of the sixteen (16) PhDs so far produced by the Department. He was Coordinator, Centre of Urban and Regional Planning (1982-1990), Head, Department of Geography and Regional Planning (1990-1991 and 1994-1997), and pioneer and only Provost, defunct of College of Education, Social Sciences and Administration (1991-1993) and in that capacity, acted as Vice Chancellor, University of Benin on a number of occasions, between 1992 and 1993. By virtue of the administrative positions that he has held, Professor Gideon Omuta has served in practically all the major committees in the University of Benin. Besides, he was Chairman, University Admissions Board (1992-1997), and a two-term member of the Governing Council, University of Benin (1993-1997). He was also a member of the Governing Council, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) (1993-1994) Professor Omuta is a member of the Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG). He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), where he served as an examiner for the Institute’s Professional Examinations (1984-1988), Member of Council (1986-1988), Chairman, Education Committee (1986-1988), and Member, Accreditation Visitation Panel (1986-1988).Professor Gideon Omuta has served and continues to serve as consultant to Federal and State governments and their agencies, as well as major oil companies in the area of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Sustainable Community Development (SCD). DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLOR & DEAN, COLLEGE OF LAW BENSON IDAHOSA UNIVERSITY Olu Adediran is a professor and seasoned academician in public Law.
Prof. Olu Adediran obtained a Bachelor of Law in 1975 from University of Ife (Now Obafemi Awolowo University) and was called to the bar (Qualifying Certificate for Legal Practitioners) in June 1976 followed with a Masters of laws from University of Ife in 1978 and Doctorate of Philosophy in Law in 1987 from the same university.
Prof. Olu Adediran started his illustrious career as a teacher in Awe high school in 1971, and then became a Research Assistant in Department of Preventive and Social Medicine in U. C. H, Ibadan, then a state counsel in Ministry of Justice, Niger State where apart from rendering legal opinions to the police and prosecuting cases in the high and magistrate courts, he also drafted the Rend Edict of Niger State.
Prof. Olu Adediran started his academic practice as a Graduate Assistant in 1977-1978, then followed Assistant Lecturer (1978-1980), Lecturer II (1980-1982), Lecturer I (1982-Feb. 1985), Part-time Lecturer-Dept of Continuing Education (1980-1984), Part-time Lecturer- Dept of Public Administration (1986-1988), Senior Lecturer (Feb 26, 1985-1991), Reader (1991-1995), Professor (1st Oct. 1995 to date). Prof. Olu Adediran has Graduate Long Essay Supervision (LL. M- 40 since 1986 -11 Current Session, M. Phil- 1 in 1999 - 4 Current Session, PhD -1 1998/99) and Undergraduate Projects Supervision 40 Students since 1989 10 Current Sessions.
Prof. Olu Adediran is currently a Member, Nigerian Bar Association; Member, Nigerian Association of Law Teachers; Member, International Association of Constitutional Law; Member, American Studies Association of Nigerian; Member, Nigerian Network on Ethics, Law and HIV/AIDS; Member, Academic Staff Union of Universities.
Prof. Olu Adediran who has over Sixty (60) publications and creative writings and a one-time Chairman, Panel on Benchmark-style Minimum Academic Standards in Law for the Nigerian Universities 2001 has lots of admirable community services and projects.

Mr. Dogun II, an administrator per excellence was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science with a Second Class Upper Division from the University of Ibadan in 1975 and started out his professional activities in 1976 as an assistant Lecturer in contemporary world history in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. Mr. Dogun poised with a strong passion for administration, decided to opt for administration rather than academic, when in 1984, he became the Assistant Registrar, student affair division in the same University and became a senior Assistant Registrar, Division of agricultural Colleges and then Senior Assistant Registrar, academic Planning unit in 1988 and 1991 respectively. In 1996, he was made assistant director and head of Administration and in that same year, a Principal assistant Registrar and Deputy Registrar in 2005 with an additional responsibility of Secretary, Post graduate School in 2006. Mr Dogun II is an associate member of the Nigerian Institute of management and member Association of Nigerian University Professional administrators (A. N. U. P. CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER BENSON IDAHOSA UNIVERSITY Andy Zaana Aken’Ova had his primary and secondary education in Demonstration School and Abdul Azeez Atta Memorial College both in Okene. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University Samaru-Zaria and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Benin, Benin-City.
After the one-year mandatory National Service, he began his working career with the United Bank for Africa Plc in March 1984 as a special trainee and withdrew his services in March 2007 after rising to the Principal Manager grade and working in several branches of the bank including the head office. On leaving UBA, he ventured into the world of consulting, had a brief stint with the Computer Warehouse Ltd (Expert Edge Training School) in Lagos as a Finacle Trainer and Consultant before devoting time to training staff of financial institutions in banking operations, customer service and selling skills when he joined Koenig Consult based in Lagos as Principal Consultant. He also helped in writing feasibility reports, business plans and shepherding the process of setting some Microfinance Banks and conducting countless training programs for many others around Lagos, Ogun State and the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja). His last years in UBA (before the merger with Standard Trust Bank) were also spent with a team, training staff in the then mission-critical Branch Transformation Project. This project involved elaborate structural work in the banking hall ambience of each branch to make the shop floors more customer-friendly and working on the mindset of staff for the desired paradigm shift to customer-centeredness in all their dealings. During the merger of the United Bank for Africa and Standard Trust Bank, he was also a member of the communication subcommittee of the Merger Committee. He was a regular columnist in the bank’s in-house magazines, Wise Choice and Lion King, where he shared his thoughts in the area of customer service, general human interests and short stories. In his spare-time, he is involved in creative-writing, social commentary, scrabble, photography and badminton. An alumnus of Seven Habits of Franklin Covey (member of the International Association for Continuing Education and Training) he is actively involved with church-based youth motivational, empowerment and skill acquisition programs and a Member of the Nigeria Institute of Management (MNIM). He is happily married with children. Prof. Johnson Olajide Oyedeji DEAN, FACULTY OF BASIC AND APPLIED SCIENCES BENSON IDAHOSA UNIVERSITY Proffessor Johnson Olajide Oyedeji was born on the 9th of May, 1960 in Ido-Osun, Osun State of Nigeria. He had his primary and secondary school Education at St. Paul Primary School, Ido-Osun and Ejigbo both in Osun State.He proceeded to the University of Ilorin, Nigeria for his Bachelor of Agriculture degree in 1984. He came out top of his class with a second class(honors) upper division in 1989.
After his compulsory one year National Youth Service, he proceeded to the same university for his prograduate degrees, culminating in Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Animal Production.Prof. Oyedeji was a university scholar during his undergradute and postgraduate studies. He also won the conveted federal Government of Nigeria scholarship.Prof. Oyedeji joined the services of Benson Idahosa University in 1998 as a Lecturer I and rose through the rank and file to a Professor of Animal Nutrition, in 2008.
Prof. Oyedeji has published extensively in reputable extensively in reputable local and international journals. He attended and presented papers in both local and international conferences. The National Universities Commisison twice awarded him prizes for presenting researches of high standard with relevance to National Development during Nigerian Research fairs organized in 2004 and 2005.
Prof. Oyedeji belongs to many Professional Associations such as Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP), Animal Science Association of Nigeria(ASAN), and Nigeria Institute of Animal Science (NIAS). Others include, Agricultural Society of Nigerian, American Poultry site Association and World Poultry Association.
Prof. Oyedeji was the pioneer head of Department of Agriculture of Benson Idahosa University. The post he held before his current appointment as current Dean of Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences.
Dr. Andrew Oghomwen Oronsaye Ag. DEAN, FACULTY OF SOCIAL AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES BENSON IDAHOSA UNIVERSITY
Dr. Andrew Oghomwen Oronsaye is an Associate Professor of Public Administration and the Acting Dean, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, a private Christian University. He is presently on contract appointment with the University having retired from the University of Benin, Benin in May 2007.
He graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) Political Science, Second Class Lower Division from the University of Ibadan in 1971; M. A. (Political Science) and M. A. (Public Administration) both from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada in 1976 and 1977 respectively. He holds a Ph.D. (Public Administration degree from the University of Benin. He is also an Associate Member, Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria. He started his academic career with the University of Benin as an Assistant Lecturer in 1978 in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer before retiring in 2007 to join the Benson Idahosa University.
He was Lecturer in charge, Department of Political Science and Public Administration, University of Benin, 1980 – 1981. He was twice appointed, the Admission Officer and Representative of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences in the University of Benin Admission Board, 1993 – 1995 and 2001 – 2004; Representative of the Faculty of Social Sciences in the University of Benin Research and Publication Committee 1990 – 1991 and 2000 – 2004.
He has served at several times as Ph.D. external examiner to the following Nigerian Universities, University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, University of Lagos and Ambrose Alli University. He was also for many years, the external examiner for undergraduate and diploma programmes to Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma; Igbinedion University, Okada, and the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Topo, Badagry.
He was a member of the 1999 Social Science accreditation team to University of Illorin, University of Abuja, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the Nigerian Defence Academy, Zaria. His research interests are in the areas of Public Administration, public policy analysis, comparative local government, comparative federalism intergovernmental relations and electoral studies, where he has published extensively in both learned local and international journals. Dr. Norah Omoregie DIRECTOR, ACADEMIC PLANNING BENSON IDAHOSA UNIVERSITY Dr Omoregie attained her first Degree in Biology – Bachelor of Education from The University of Benin in 1978, a Masters of Education in Education Administration in 1985 and her Doctorate (Ph. D – Education Administration) in 1995. She became a qualified N. U. C Virtual institution for Higher Pedagogy in 2003 and the Virtual Institution fro Educational Pedagogy in 2004.
Dr. Omoregie experience in education started in 1979 as a classroom teacher in Biology and a school teacher in 1991. She became a lecturer I in 2002 and senior lecturer in 2005. She was chairman Accreditation Committee in October 2002, ag H. O. D Education in October 2003, ag DEAN Faculty of arts and Education in October 2004 from which she became , director academic Planning till date.
