The faculty of law was established in 2003. The faculty of considers its role to be that of providing a sound university education in law with Godliness. The faculty aims at producing graduates who will excel in:

(a). Academic and sound Christian Knowledge and practise


(b). Have a good grasp of current information and


(c). Be knowledgeable in other areas of human endeavour like philosophy etc; so as to fully appreciate the role that law plays in the society.

The academic program in the faculty of Law is designed to ensure that the graduates of law will have a clear understanding of the place and importance of law in the society, because all human activities; social, economic, political, etc take place within a legal framework.

In formulation of the curriculum, care was taken to ensure that law would be taught as it exist at any given moment and that the students will be comparative in thier approach to legal studies, bearing in mind that there are many systems of law; statutory law, Common Law and Islamic Law in operation.

The curriculum also seeks introduce students to law, stuff him with many principles of judicial process and legal development and equip with the basic tools of legal analysis or methods.

The programme of courses offered by the faculty of Law leads to the Bachelor of law Degree (LL.B) and operates under two (2) departments

DURATION OF PROGRAMME

A Five(5) year standard programme for students with Ordinary (“O”) Level Certificate or their equivalent to include English Language, English literature and mathematics obtained at not more than two sittings and an acceptable pass in University Matriculation Examination (UME).

A four (4) year programme for students with Advanced Level Certificate (“A”) – CREDIT or their equivalent ; to include English language or Literature or A university Degree in a relevant discipline with not less than a Second Class Lower.
