Benson Idahosa University desires to prepare people to enagage in academic research and to make intellectual contributions to national development. This implies that it also seeks to identity persons of exceptional academic ability and to prepare such persons to engage in research and to make intellectual contributions towards national development.

This is in consonance with the university's vision and mission statements. It is an extension of the implementation efforts of God's mandate to the founder to raise an army of academics, professionals and entreprenuers who will go in christ's name to ends of the world with power of holy Ghost to impart truth by precept and example. Professionalism and entreprenuership are more often than not creations of advanced studies which are objectives of post graduate programmes in the university.

Since the university aspires to be a model of "Academic excellence with Godliness", the academic and spiritual content and culture inherent in the post graduate programmes and its teaching will prepare beneficiaries of the post graduate programmes in the university to fulfill the university's vision.

In addition, the mission of raising leaders for the nation, who are example in spirit, mind and body, will be facilitated through the mounting and effective exploitation of opportunities which only post graduate and God inspired intuition can provide. Moreover, the judicous utilization of current information and communications technology for research and networking with similar institutions which are key concepts in the university'mission-statement are clearly in the purview of post graduate studies the world over.

Actually, the mission of university cannot be fully realized without the institution and implementation of Christ-centered post graduate programmes. Moreover, it is pertitent to know that only post graduate products who have trained in an intellectually, spiritually and physically healthy milieu as that provided in Benson Idahosa university can truly change Nigeria and world.
